Where Do You Get Your News From
Sometimes it is extremely easy to tell when there is bias in a news story and sometimes it is almost impossible to tell. Almost always though there is some form of bias. This particular article I came across is one of the more obvious in how they are bias. The article was written by CNN and everything from the title, to the wording and content show how bias media can be. The first line of the article reads, "Donald Trump has a grandiose view of himself and his centrality to, well, everything." Starting off with the first line we can tell that this article is not going to be showing Trump in a positive light. The words and how they are put together show that they do not think highly of what Trump had to say. This article is all about "fake" news and how Trumps believes he made the word what it is today. It is obvious that the people who are sharing this story do not think highly of Trump and their bias views show.

Bias in media isn't always as easy to spot as it is in this news story. To help understand more about media bias and how to find it in media here are some links I found helpful.

Hi Cassidy,
ReplyDeleteWhere we get our news from can influence our ideas and reinforce them. I agree that you can spot right away if an article is going to shed someone or a topic in a positive way or not - even in the title. However, sometimes it can be difficult to spot and try to figure out if there is media bias in the story or article. I found your links to be interesting and insightful.
Great blog!
Those are some good links that I wish more Americans would look at and have a better understanding although I must say I am not sure I would call WaPo fact checker to be unbiased. I try to stay away from bias media myself but it seems like it is becoming near impossible recently. I do however make sure to check stories against multiple sources as a way to "try" and help. As Lisa said were we get our news does influence us and if we want to be truly informed sometimes it takes a little more work.
ReplyDeleteHey Cassidy! Bias in news media is so incredibly apparent in today's world. I have never trusted a single news source to get my facts because the way they are presented is always in a different light. I usually will look at CNN and Fox in order to receive both the conservative and liberal side of an issue or topic. Sadly, I don't even want to tune in to either network today because it seems as if every time I tune in I always end up angry. What sites or stations do you turn to for your news? Great Post!
