The Powerhouses of Media
It is no surprise that there are a few large media corporations that control the flow of news to the public. What I always loving doing is going to these different organizations and ready the same news story from each one. I have found that it can give a lot of insight to how the organization tells it news and what parts of the story you are going to receive. I think it is also beneficial to read stories from different sources, because it can help you get a better picture and understanding of the news.
I try my best to read as many news stories as possible, but what made me decide on this for my last blog was seeing all the different stories about North Korea and their new bomb on Twitter. I first saw the story BBC and read their article. Immediately the next tweet was about the same topic, but from CNN. They both have the same story to tell but there are key differences in how the news is relayed to the public. The wording of each is different and one story leaves out information that another has and vice versa.

Always consider the source! I have always thought it to be interesting when news outlets talk about the same story yet offer a different view point. Are you missing out on important information when they do this or is more beneficial to see a story from different perspectives in order to come to your own conclusion or opinion? Like I said, I think it is important to always consider your source when it comes to the news because at the end of the day, they too have their own agenda!

Sources are very important. This is honestly crazy that 1. no one is stopping them and 2. the media is somehow downplaying this as if it's just another North Korean dramatic story. I have noticed that the information provided is not exactly accurate. If you continue to read they say that the message doesn't interpret correctly on Korean TV.

Every news sources offers their own unique perspective on a news story, regardless of whether they are trying to be biased or unbiased. It is almost impossible to find a news story today that does not have a left or a right lean to it, even if it does not mean to. People form their opinion, and in their underlying conscious those feelings will come out into words, whether that be through tone, adjectives, verbs, etc. I always try to read as many news articles as possible from many different news media outlets, that way I am informed on many different perspectives and opinions and I am able to form mine more clearly.
